Taking students from Southend

Lessons are open, online or in person from Southend-on-Sea. Beginners are welcome, though the players who tend to get the most out of it are the ones already gigging who want to stop guessing.

What usually needs fixing

Two things come up more than anything else. The first is tone, which is almost always right-hand technique rather than gear, and which usually shifts within a few weeks. The second is timing — where you sit against the drummer — which takes far longer and is worth far more.

Reading is the third, and it is the one that opens doors. It is what makes pit work and dep work possible, where a chart can arrive the same morning as the gig.

There is a short trial lesson for working out whether it is a fit, with nothing attached to it.
