Live at Paper Dress Vintage — seven tracks, five guests

Seven tracks from the Paper Dress Vintage show are now up. All recorded live on the night, and almost every song has a different guest out front — which makes for a set list that reads more like a compilation than a gig.

Mookie takes American Woman, White Rabbit and Send Me a Postcard. Gordon Taggart handles Fire and Water, Captain Dann takes I Want You (She’s So Heavy), and Paul Shine sings People Are Strange. The Moonage Daydream and 21st Century Schizoid Man mashup has Paul and Captain Dann sharing it.

Playing for a different singer every song

A rotating cast is its own discipline. Every vocalist sits differently against the band, pushes or drags in their own way, and wants a different amount of room underneath them. The bass job changes accordingly, sometimes mid-set.

The Free and Beatles material is where the low end has the most space, and where the bass does most of the holding together.
